There are plenty of sites with general Bangkok information. The purpose of this website is to provide some first hand information about travel in Bangkok with your family. We have never lived in Bangkok, but have made many trips to Bangkok with our kids. Despite its size, Bangkok is a relatively safe city. This makes it a good choice for a family vacation. As the principle city in Thailand, your arrival in Thailand will most likely be in Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi International airport. Upon landing in Bangkok, one of your first concerns will be transporting your family from the airport to your Bangkok hotel.

If you are planning your first trip to Thailand, I recommend you make a booking in advance for your first night in Bangkok. Most Bangkok Hotels will give big discounts on the room rates for advance bookings.

Bangkok Transportation

Bangkok is well known for its traffic problems. During morning and evening rush hours, it is absolutely impossible to get anywhere fast when traveling by car. However, in the last decade, public transportation in Bangkok has received some long needed improvements. Beginning with the Bangkok skytrain and now with the addition of a Bangkok subway line, Bangkok transportation has been brought into the 21st century. A soon to be completed rail link to Suvarnabhumi airport should also help relieve some of the traffic congestion during peak hours. With the new modern public transport systems, Bangkok is surprisingly easy to navigate your way around.

Although Bangkok has something for everyone in your family, there are many places to see and things to do throughout Thailand. Take your family to one of the many other interesting cities for an unforgettable Thailand experience. Your travel from Bangkok should go smoothly if you arrange transportation in advance.
